With Island Birding, discover all the secret birding spots and gain a deeper understanding of how diverse Vancouver Island really is.
Hours of operations run in the morning (9:30-12:30) or afternoon (4:30-7:30), but remain flexible to fit your needs.
Optional 30 min coffee break is available.
After meeting at the designated location, private groups of up to 6 participants will be guided through a 3-hour circuit.
We will discover the local bird species, learn different ways to identify them, but also take the time to appreciate the island's unique natural beauty, and see lots of other animals.
On our tour we will walk easy terrain, covering multiple habitats for best chance of encountering diverse species.
We will learn what makes birds extortionary, as they share a family tree linked to the famously extinct dinosaurs.
We will learn how to identify local bird species by sight and even how to recognize them by song.
We will be undertaking a natural treasure hunt for feathers, owl pellets, and other clues that will be translated, revealing the secretive lives of the animals hidden around us.
Often, we encounter other exciting forms of wildlife, such as otters, seals, deer, raccoons, beavers and more.
