Juliette Saint Plancat

Owner / Tour operator

Born in France, I left at age four and travelled around the world for 12 years on a sailboat with my family. After crossing both the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean, we settled in New Zealand for 4 years until we moved permanently to Vancouver Island, where I started my Ornithology studies. Six years later, Island Birding was born.

During my nomadic childhood, I was blessed to travel through tropical waters, encountering countless rare species that sparked my passion for wildlife.
It started with an obsession for insects, and rapidly moved onto birds.
I have always had a deep understanding of the wildlife that surrounded me.
With a keen eye for detail, I particularly enjoy recognizing patterns in physiology and behavior.
To be able to witness the living relative of the extinct population of dinosaurs, is what I believe to be a miracle taken for granted by many.
My goal is to open your eyes onto what goes unnoticed, bringing back that curiosity and connection to nature.

Also an artist

Art has always been a big part of my life.
Growing up, watching my mother paint the scenery from our sailboat's deck, I was bound to follow her steps.
I use a variety of mediums including: inks, charcoal, and acrylics.
My main subject involves various wildlife, with an emphasis on the soul visible through the portal of their eyes.
I believe all humans were born to create, and I enjoy spending time exploring different mediums to do just that.
